Deion's Colorado spring game sells out, sets school attendance record
Fans in Colorado couldn't be more excited about their football team.
The Deion Sanders-led Buffaloes announced Thursday that their spring football game on April 22 is sold out.
Colorado is expecting attendance of just over 45,000, easily a new record. The team's previous record crowd for a spring game was 17,800 in 2008, and 1,950 people were in attendance for last season's edition, according to The Athletic's Stewart Mandel.
Attendance at this spring game is also expected to be higher than the team's last nine spring games combined.
Colorado hired Sanders as head coach this year in hopes the NFL legend can revive a program that's struggled recently. The Buffaloes haven't had a winning season since 2016 and posted a 9-21 record over the last three seasons, including a 1-11 campaign in 2022.
It didn't take long for Sanders to help bolster Colorado's roster, as blue-chip talents Travis Hunter and Cormani McClain joined. The team also added quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Deion's son.
Deion Sanders spent the last three seasons at Jackson State, helping the Tigers go 27-6 in that span.
