Report: Fisher's job in jeopardy unless Texas A&M improves in 2023
Jimbo Fisher could be in his final season as Texas A&M's head coach unless he can reverse the program's downward spiral.
Despite being two seasons into a 10-year, $95-million extension, Fisher's job is in jeopardy, Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reports. Firing Fisher would require a $77-million buyout, which the school is reportedly prepared to pay.
The 57-year-old is coming off his worst season as the Aggies' sideline boss. After starting 2022 with a 3-1 record, Texas A&M lost six in a row and finished the campaign with a 5-7 mark.
Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork said in August that there was "no panic" in the program following the disappointing 2022 season.
The Aggies entered this weekend with a 1-1 record. They suffered a crushing 48-33 defeat to Miami last week.
