Corum, Johnson take home MVP honors of CFP title game

Michigan running back Blake Corum and defensive back Will Johnson were honored as offensive and defensive MVP, respectively, of their 34-13 victory over Washington in the national championship game on Monday.

Corum led the Wolverines' 300-plus-yard rushing attack with 134 yards and two touchdowns. Both his scores came in the fourth quarter and ended any hopes of a Washington comeback.

Donovan Edwards also tallied over 100 yards rushing, marking the first time there was a pair of 100-yard rushers on the same team in a College Football Playoff title game, according to The Athletic's Chris Vannini.

Meanwhile, Johnson grabbed a pivotal interception off Michael Penix to start the second half. With the Huskies trailing only 17-10 to begin the third quarter, Johnson's interception canceled any intention of a game-tying drive. The Wolverines used his turnover to tack on a field goal, making it a two-score game.

Michigan's victory marked its first national championship since 1997 and capped off a perfect 15-0 campaign.
