International music star Pitbull is purchasing the naming rights for Florida International's football stadium and changing the name to Pitbull Stadium, the program announced Tuesday.

Pitbull is expected to pay FIU $1.2 million per year for the next five years as part of the naming rights deal, according to university board documents obtained by the Associated Press' Ralph D. Russo. He can renew the naming rights deal for another five years at the same cost.

The artist will also promote FIU athletics as part of the deal by potentially including recording an "FIU anthem," creating social media posts, and attending one fundraising event per year, among other activities.

The Panthers' stadium was previously known as Riccardo Silva Stadium and has a capacity of 20,000.

Pitbull, whose real name is Armando Perez, was born in Miami. He recently performed during the halftime show of the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game.

He's had two songs reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts with "Give Me Everything" and "Timber."
