Report: Wisconsin's Van Dyke out for season due to torn ACL

Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL during Saturday's loss to Alabama, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Van Dyke left the matchup versus the Crimson Tide in the first quarter after he was awkwardly tackled near the sideline while scrambling. It was his third start with the Badgers after transferring from Miami.

Van Dyke completed 63% of his passes for 422 yards and one touchdown in three appearances with Wisconsin this season. He also scored a TD on the ground.

With Van Dyke sidelined, the Badgers will turn to Braedyn Locke under center. Locke replaced Van Dyke against Alabama and finished the contest with 13 completions on 26 attempts for 125 yards and one touchdown. Freshman passer Mabrey Mettauer is now in line to serve as Wisconsin's new backup QB in 2024.

Wisconsin has a bye this week before visiting USC on Sept. 28.
