Oklahoma is making a quarterback change after suffering its first loss this season.

Head coach Brent Venables announced Monday that freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins will start Saturday's game against Auburn over Jackson Arnold, according to Brett McMurphy of Action Network.

Arnold was benched late in the second quarter of last week's 25-15 loss to Tennessee after struggling for most of the first half. Hawkins entered the game and finished with 11 completions on 18 attempts for 132 yards and one touchdown. He also had a team-high 22 rushing yards.

Arnold joined the Sooners as the No. 1 dual-threat QB of the 2023 class and backed up Dillon Gabriel last year.

Oklahoma - which dropped to No. 21 in the latest AP Poll - plays No. 1 Texas after its matchup versus Auburn. The Sooners are 3-1.
