South Carolina pass-rusher Kyle Kennard has been awarded the 2024 Bronco Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top defensive player, the program announced.
Kennard was picked over the likes of Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.
The edge rusher transferred to South Carolina for the 2024 campaign and reached new heights in his lone season with the Gamecocks, notching 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
He's the first South Carolina player to claim the trophy.
Kennard spent the first four seasons of his college career at Georgia Tech where he totalled 12.5 sacks.
