Bill Belichick's debut at North Carolina will be in prime time.

The Tar Heels announced Thursday that their season-opening game against TCU will be played at night on Monday, Sept. 1.

It's the first time North Carolina football has a regular-season matchup on a Monday evening and the program's first non-Saturday home opener since 1941.

All eyes will be on North Carolina this season after the school hired Belichick - arguably the greatest NFL coach of all time - as its sideline boss to replace Mack Brown.

Belichick helped the New England Patriots create a dynasty and win six Super Bowl titles along with Tom Brady.

The 72-year-old's shocking move to the college level came after he didn't coach in 2024. The Patriots and Belichick agreed to part ways at the end of the 2023 regular season following 24 seasons together.

Belichick was still linked to multiple vacant NFL jobs even after being introduced at North Carolina, but he officially signed his deal with the Tar Heels on Thursday. The pact includes a buyout that drops from $10 million to $1 million on June 1 if Belichick terminates the deal.
