Oklahoma hires Senior Bowl director Nagy as GM of football
Oklahoma hired Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy as its general manager of football, the program announced Wednesday.
"This is a new era in intercollegiate athletics at one of the greatest college football programs in the country," Nagy said in a statement. "The legacy of excellence that precedes my arrival is a testament to the leadership at OU and the university's commitment to execute at a championship level. I am honored to bring my experience and work ethic to this program and am confident that through collaboration and effort, we can achieve excellent results. I am truly excited to get to Norman and begin our process with coach (Brent) Venables and his great staff."
Nagy has directed the Senior Bowl since 2018. A record 110 participants in last year's college showcase were selected in the NFL draft.
Nagy will succeed Curtis Lofton, who previously served as the Sooners' general manager but vacated the role after less than a year.
The former Senior Bowl executive attracted some NFL interest this offseason, interviewing for the New York Jets GM position. Prior to his Senior Bowl venture, Nagy also held numerous scouting roles in the NFL.
