Report: Michigan expected to give Moore 2-game ban
Michigan is poised to hand out a self-imposed two-game suspension to head coach Sherrone Moore over his ties to the Connor Stalions scouting scandal, sources told ESPN's Dan Wetzel and Pete Thamel.
The ban will be served for Michigan's third and fourth opponents, forcing him to miss the games against Central Michigan and Nebraska, Wetzel and Thamel added. He also will not be allowed to be part of any team-related duties such as practice during that time.
Stalions was at the forefront of Michigan's alleged in-person sign-sealing plot, which prompted an NCAA investigation and led to him resigning from his post as an analyst in November 2023.
Moore's relation to the plot comes from allegedly deleting 52 text messages with Stalions on the same day the media reported on the sign-stealing operation.
The NCAA sent Michigan its final version of a notice of allegations relating to the scandal in August 2024. Michigan and the NCAA are still working toward a resolution in the Stalions scandal with additional discipline for Moore still possible.
