Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer returned for Saturday's highly-anticipated Red River Showdown against Texas.
Mateer underwent surgery on his hand on Sept. 23 and missed one game as a result. However, he was ahead of schedule on his targeted return date of Oct. 18 and ended this week as probable to play.
The Sooners signal-caller put himself in the conversation to be a top Heisman candidate before the injury. He completed 67.4% of his passes for 1,215 yards and six touchdowns to three interceptions.
Oklahoma enters the rivalry matchup against Texas with a 5-0 record.
