Texas quarterback Arch Manning is in the concussion protocol and was unable to practice Monday, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Manning suffered the injury on a running play in overtime during Texas' 45-38 win over Mississippi State. He had a season-high 346 passing yards before exiting, in addition to three touchdowns and one interception.

Matthew Caldwell came into the game at quarterback and put the finishing touches on the Longhorns' victory.

Texas, which was ranked 20th in the latest AP Poll, faces No. 9 Vanderbilt this Saturday. Caldwell would likely get the start if Manning doesn't clear the concussion protocol.

Manning has completed 60.9% of his passes this season for 15 touchdowns to six interceptions.
