Cal fired head coach Justin Wilcox after eight-plus seasons in charge, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Cal analyst Nick Rolovich is expected to take over as the interim coach, Thamel adds.
The dismissal comes after the Golden Bears fell 31-10 to Stanford on Saturday. Cal led 10-7 before surrendering 24 unanswered points in the loss.
Wilcox took the Golden Bears' job in 2017, compiling a 48-55 record as head coach.
He produced his best season in 2019 when Cal went 8-5, one of only two winning campaigns the program posted under Wilcox.
Cal is 6-5 this year.
