Report: Washington suspends Marcus Peters 1 game after sideline tantrum

Marcus Peters's antics this past Saturday will cost him, with the Washington cornerback suspended one game, according to a report from the Seattle Times. Peters will be forced to sit out the Huskies' matchup with Illinois on Saturday.

Head coach Chris Petersen declined to comment on the specific reason for Peters's suspension Monday, saying only "our discipline will stay in-house."

However, the reason should be pretty obvious to anyone that witnessed Washington's 59-52 victory over Eastern Washington. Peters was benched during the game after drawing an unsportsmanlike-conduct penalty for head-butting an opponent.

When Peters went to the Huskies' sideline, he was seen arguing with assistant coaches before throwing his helmet and gloves to the ground.

After the game Petersen was clearly less than pleased with his starting cornerback.

"I'm just not into stupid penalties," Petersen said. "It's not even an issue whether the guy's going to play or not if they don't conduct themselves right. If you don't play like we want you to play, you're not playing. It's not even a decision for me; it's easy."

Travell Dixon replaced Peters after he was benched against Eastern Washington and looks to be in line to get the start against Illinois.
