Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon won the Doak Walker Award Thursday.
A Heisman Trophy candidate, Gordon was the fastest player in FBS history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season and was the first to break LaDainian Tomlinson's record for rushing yards in a game.
He finished the season with 2,336 yards and 26 touchdowns on 309 carries.
Former Boston College and current New York Giants running back Andre Williams won the ward last year.
Indiana running back Tevin Coleman and Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah were also finalists for the award.
