Fresno State's Ford Childress likely done for season with internal injury
Ford Childress was Fresno State's starting quarterback Saturday night against San Jose State, however, it appears that'll be his only start of the year.
Childress will likely miss the rest of the season due to an internal injury, head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Sunday.
The junior quarterback went 19-of-32 for 159 yards with two touchdowns and an interception during the 49-23 loss to the Spartans. It was his first significant action of the season after appearing in only one of the Bulldogs' three previous games, attempting just two passes.
Childress began his college career with West Virginia and started two games for the Mountaineers in 2013. He completed 36-of-63 passes for 421 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions that season, but was suspended for spring practice in 2014 and didn't enroll at West Virginia that year.
Instead, Childress spent last year at Trinity Valley Junior College, where he didn't play football, before transferring to Fresno State in July of this year.
With Childress out, the Bulldogs will likely return to starting quarterback Zack Greenlee, who missed the game against San Jose State for disciplinary reasons.
