DeMarcus Robinson opens up about drug use, rehab at Florida
Former Florida wideout DeMarcus Robinson certainly has the skills to be an NFL football player, but there have been concerns about his time with the Gators since he declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.
While at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, Robinson opened up to the media about his college career, admitting he struggled with drug use and spent 45 days in rehab while at Florida.
Robinson's tumultuous run with the Gators included three drug suspensions and stringent drug testing done by the school. He was tested twice per week during his sophomore campaign and twice monthy during his final season.
"I know I had to come out and tell the truth at some point," Robinson said of the decision to speak so candidly. "I can tell the truth because (the drug problems) haven't happened since my freshman year."
Along with the drug suspensions, Robinson was forced to sit out the final regular-season game of his career due to a violation of team rules. On Wednesday, he also shed some light on the reason behind that absence.
"I had a marketing lady that wanted to meet with me," he divulged. "She offered me something I never had been offered before. So I was willing to take that to help my mom out."
Most analysts peg Robinson as a late-round pick in April's draft.
