Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Tuesday, May 10 (all stats exclude Monday's games):

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Buster Posey (SF) | vs. TOR | 10 |
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) | at MIA | 9 |
Dustin Garneau (COL) | vs. ARI | 9 |
Dioner Navarro (CWS) | at TEX | 9 |
Wilson Ramos (WAS) | vs. DET | 9 |
Welington Castillo (ARI) | at COL | 8 |
Stephen Vogt (OAK) | at BOS | 8 |
The fact that Posey isn't priced as the most expensive catcher on the majority of DFS sites is completely contemptuous considering the Giants' backstop is in a league of his own when it comes to the best offensive catchers in the game. I guess an .812 OPS on the season isn't good enough? Expect Posey to exceed his value facing LHP J.A. Happ; Posey is a career .331 hitter against lefties.
With Nick Hundley on the 15-day DL, expect Garneau to handle most of the catching duties for the Rockies. He is one of the few players on Colorado or Arizona who doesn't have the Coors Field price boost. Garneau doesn't have much of a pedigree, but he's 5-for-16 with three doubles and two walks this season. The opposing SP, Rubby De La Rosa, has a 4.60 ERA this season.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Brian McCann (NYY) | vs. KC | 7 |
Christian Vazquez (BOS) | vs. OAK | 7 |
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) | vs. MIL | 7 |
Chris Iannetta (SEA) | vs. TB | 7 |
Yadier Molina (STL) | at LAA | 6 |
Jason Castro (HOU) | vs. CLE | 6 |
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) | at WAS | 5 |
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) | vs. NYM | 5 |
Curt Casali (TB) | at SEA | 5 |
Iannetta can be taken in both cash games and tournaments thanks to his low cost, ability to draw walks and his surprising home run power. The veteran backstop has hit 40 of his 102 career home runs against lefties, to go along with a .388 OBP. He'll be facing a lefty on Tuesday, but it's a pretty good one in Drew Smyly, therefore keeping Iannetta out of the Top Options.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) | at CIN | 4 |
Brett Nicholas (TEX) | vs. CWS | 4 |
Russell Martin (TOR) | at SF | 3 |
Matt Wieters (BAL) | at MIN | 3 |
Derek Norris (SD) | at CHC | 2 |
Yan Gomes (CLE) | at HOU | 2 |
Salvador Perez (KC) | at NYY | 2 |
Perez has struggled mightily this season. It could be just a slight World Series hangover, or it could stem from the fact that he caught 430 games from 2013 - 2015. Nonetheless, his free-swinging nature doesn't make for a good matchup against a new-look Masahiro Tanaka.
Tanaka's fastball velocity is down because of the elbow issues, but his ability to command a wide assortment of nasty off-speed pitches could have Perez looking foolish at the dish.
