Here are the fantasy repercussions of the Milwaukee Brewers activating OF Domingo Santana off the disabled list:
Season-Long Fantasy
Santana has been limited to 36 games this season, out since May 20 with a shoulder injury. He opened his season in the major leagues by slashing .239/.353/.381 with three home runs, 15 runs scored and 12 RBIs through 133 plate appearances.
He has played a total of 94 MLB games in his career, splitting time with the Brewers and Houston Astros. He has totaled 11 home runs, 36 runs, 38 RBIs and four stolen bases to go with a .224/.328/.386 slash line. He accumulated a total of 26 home runs and six stolen bases in 2015, splitting time with Brewers, Astros and their respective Triple-A affiliates.
Santana's average hovered between .250 and .300 throughout the minor leagues, and his .337 OBP in the majors last season was his lowest from any professional level. He has hit as many as 25 home runs and has stolen up to 12 bases in a single year at one level.
Santana will return to an everyday role in the outfield, with most of his playing time likely to come in left field. Veteran OF Ryan Braun is likely to move back to right field, while 26-year-old OF Keon Broxton will likely be returned to Triple-A.
Santana is a must own in any NL-only league and all keeper formats. He should be rostered in mixed leagues of at least 14 teams, with 12-teamers keeping him under heavy consideration. He is given a dramatic boost in leagues counting on-base percentage, either in combination with or in place of batting average.
Daily Fantasy
Santana's price has dipped slightly since he was last active. He had only five hits in his previous nine games, racking up 12 strikeouts but drawing an adequate eight walks. Santana showed he's back to full health by going 1-for-3 with three walks and a home run during two rehab games at Double-A.
He's likely to hit in the top half of the Brewers lineup, where his high OBP can provide a significant boost to his value. His high strikeout rate may cause some frustration, but his power and speed potential make him an excellent GPP target while his price remains low.
His splits heavily favor left-handed pitching, with a .378 BA against LHPs compared to .171 against righties. Owners can roster him immediately against opposing southpaws, but he may need some time to prove his worth before trusting him against a right-handed starter.
