J.K. Simmons explains jacked-up workout photos, says he's 'huge' now

J.K. Simmons caused quite the stir earlier this month after photos surfaced of him looking insanely jacked at the gym.

Many assumed the 61-year-old actor was training for his role in the upcoming "Justice League" movie, but Simmons explained to Business Insider's Jason Guerrasio that he did it strictly for health reasons.

"This is all coincidental," he said. "After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life."

Simmons is still training in Los Angeles with Aaron Williamson, the man who shot the photos, and finds it humorous how much attention they got.

"Those were shot at the end of April," Simmons said. "I'm huge now!"
