Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
NAME | VALUE | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
Yasmany Tomas (ARI) | at BAL | 10 |
Josh Reddick (LAD) | vs. COL | 8 |
Andrew Benintendi (BOS) | at TB | 8 |
Tomas is hitting .400 with a 1.029 OPS over his last 10 games -- and there's no reason to think his hot bat will cool down any time soon. The Diamondbacks' offense will enjoy the boost of having a DH as they take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Camden Yards is a launch pad, O's SP Wade Miley has a 5.65 ERA and Tomas has 1.098 OPS vs. LHPs overall this season.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | VALUE | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
Tyler Naquin (CLE) | vs. CWS | 7 |
Melvin Upton Jr. (TOR) | vs. NYY | 5 |
Manuel Margot (SD) | vs. SF | 5 |
Upton Jr. has some shared history with CC Sabathia. In 59 career at-bats, Upton has hit .288 with a .348 OBP with nine extra-base hits. Upton is a member of an exclusive group this season as one of only six players with at least 25 steals and 20 home runs. He's very streaky but has enough dynamic athleticism to return GPP value.
Margot will have the beginner's luck in his favor, inasmuch as Madison Bumgarner won't have a ton of film of Margot against major-league pitching. The Padres' call-up can be a tournament flier; he doesn't need to do much to return value against a very low DFS salary.
Nothing to See Here
NAME | VALUE | OPPONENT |
---|---|---|
Jose Bautista (TOR) | vs. NYY | 4 |
Carlos Gonzalez (COL) | at LAD | 3 |
Travis Jankowski (SD) | vs. SF | 1 |
Unlike teammate Upton, Bautista has gone just 4-for-37 against Sabathia in his career. Bautista is an on-base machine, and Sabathia isn't the ace he once was but DFSers should still look elsewhere outside of tournament lineups in contests with deep contestant pools.
Jankowski has impressed by stealing 30 bases despite seeing limited playing time earlier in the season. Unfortunately for the Padres, he can't steal first base, and with a .150 batting average against LHPs this season, he's unlikely to hit himself on base against Bumgarner.
