LaVar urges Celtics to use No. 1 pick on 'best player' Markelle Fultz
LaVar Ball has no problems with his son Lonzo going No. 2 overall in the upcoming NBA draft.
The outspoken Ball father even encouraged the Boston Celtics, who won the draft lottery held Tuesday night, to use the No. 1 pick on Markelle Fultz, who he the dubbed, "the best player."
"Discourage them? Yes. I hope the Celtics don't take Lonzo. Markelle Fultz is the perfect pick for them. He's the best player. Take him," LaVar said Wednesday morning on "Undisputed."
Both LaVar and Lonzo have made it clear they would like to partner with the hometown Los Angeles Lakers, who hold the No. 2 pick. Lonzo plans to spurn the Celtics and will only work out for the Lakers.
However, LaVar did step off the pedal in the end, admitting he'll accept whichever outcome.
"Here's the thing. I don't have to make no noise. I would go with 'Zo. He just wants to be in the NBA. So it's not about me to strong arm folks like 'He ain't going there.' I just think it's lined up for him to be a Laker, the fact that he's homegrown."
