Take It to the Max
| POS | NAME | OPP | FPPG | SALARY |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P | Max Scherzer (WAS) | vs. SD | 27.6 | 140K |
| C | Sandy Leon (BOS) | vs. SEA | 7.8 | 39K |
| 2B | Jose Peraza (CIN) | at PHI | 7.7 | 37K |
| 3B | Joey Gallo (TEX) | at TOR | 11.4 | 44K |
| OF | Jorge Bonifacio (KC) | at CLE | 8.3 | 38K |
Scherzer is one of the safest investments in fantasy. Of course, he leaves an average of only 40K to spread out over four position players. Look for high-upside plays -- Peraza's speed, Gallo's power, Bonifacio's recent hot streak. If Scherzer plays up to his usual high standard, and you get big nights from the boom-or-bust candidates, tournament potential will be in reach.
Vottomatic Floor
| POS | NAME | OPP | FPPG | SALARY |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| P | Eduardo Rodriguez (BOS) | vs. SEA | 18.7 | 41K |
| C | Gary Sanchez (NYY) | vs. OAK | 9.8 | 61K |
| 2B | Daniel Murphy (WAS) | vs. SD | 13.2 | 56K |
| 1B | Joey Votto (CIN) | at PHI | 14.4 | 59K |
| OF | Mike Trout (LAA) | at MIA | 17.6 | 72K |
You sacrifice a fair amount of overall floor by downgrading from Scherzer to Rodriguez, but doing so allows you to dramatically raise the floor of your bats. Not only does this lineup have fantastic 50/50 potential, the tournament potential is strong as well. Each batter is capable of cranking out multiple extra-base hits, and Rodriguez has a good matchup against the Mariners
