Report: Sweeping Cavs could cost Warriors more than $22M
Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob could be out millions of dollars if his team continues to dominate.
Should the Warriors manage to wrap up their series on Friday at Quicken Loans Arena, the lost revenue from not playing Games 5 and 7 at Oracle would cost Golden State more than $22 million, ESPN's Darren Rovell reports.
According to Rovell, the total value of tickets for each game would be worth approximately $13.5 million, with the league taking 25 percent of the gate revenue. Add in the lost proceeds from food, beverage, and merchandise sales, and the Warriors would be down about $11 million per contest.
Of course, another title for Golden State would likely boost the team's value and more than make up for the lost revenue from a potential sweep.
