Adams says he drew interest from nearly half of NFL: 'I was surprised'
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams says he was a hot commodity this offseason and garnered attention from almost half the teams in the league.
"I was surprised about (the amount of interest), to be honest with you," Adams told The Athletic's Michael Silver.
Adams added: "I felt like I was on a recruiting trip again. It felt like high school going off to college. It was a good feeling. That was the most wanted, I think, I've felt in my career."
Adams eventually signed a two-year deal worth up to $46 million with the Rams in March after being released by the New York Jets earlier that month. The 32-year-old reportedly wanted to play for a successful West Coast team with a salary of more than $20 million a season.
The wide receiver noted that no team or coach was as passionate in their pursuit of him as the Rams and head coach Sean McVay. Adams revealed in his introductory press conference that McVay sent him highlight tapes of himself and explained how he could fit into the Rams' offense.
"It just shows how much ball means to (McVay), how much of a priority I was for him," Adams said at the press conference, per The Associated Press.
Adams finished the 2024 campaign with his sixth 1,000-yard season. The Fresno State product also tallied 85 catches and eight touchdowns in the 14 games he played.
The Rams finished 10-7 in 2024 and reached the playoffs. The team fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in a tightly contested divisional playoff game.
