Report: Kings, Randolph agree to 2-year, $24-million deal
Free-agent power forward Zach Randolph has agreed to a two-year, $24-million contract with the Sacramento Kings, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Both years are fully guaranteed, sources told NBA.com's David Aldridge.
The news came just minutes after a report that the Kings had agreed to a three-year deal with point guard George Hill. The two veteran additions appear to be part of a calculated effort on the part of Sacramento's front office to improve the team's culture and nurture its young core. The Kings haven't made the playoffs in 11 years.
The money committed to those two players means the Kings no longer have room to fit the max offer sheet they reportedly gave Washington Wizards restricted free agent Otto Porter. The Wizards were widely expected to match the offer regardless.
The move will close the book on Randolph's tremendous eight-year run with the Memphis Grizzlies, in which he averaged 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds, made two All-Star teams and an All-NBA third team, and helped lead the Grizzlies to seven playoff appearances (the franchise had just three in its first 15 years of existence), three 50-win seasons, and their first-ever conference finals berth.
