Deion after meeting with Browns owner: They'll take Shedeur or Hunter
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders believes one of the Buffaloes' top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft - quarterback Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter - will end up in Cleveland after he had a conversation Friday with Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
"It was charming, it was engaging," Sanders said about his meeting with Haslam at Colorado's pro day, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "It was cool. He's a good guy, and I like him.
"I think one of (Shedeur or Hunter) is gonna be there."
The Browns own the second overall pick in the draft. With the Tennessee Titans projected to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1, Cleveland could choose Sanders or Hunter. Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter - arguably the best prospect in the 2025 class - is also a strong option.
"I think we have the most qualified guys in the draft, they're not a risk," Sanders added, according to Titans reporter Jim Wyatt. "Like, Shedeur has been doing it year after year after year. ... Travis, ain't nobody like Travis. ... The surest bets in this draft are those two young men."
Members of all 32 NFL teams attended Colorado's pro day. Hunter, who didn't work out at the NFL combine and Big 12 pro day this year, wasn't initially expected to participate in any on-field workouts Friday. However, he ended up running routes during Sanders' throwing session.
Hunter is projected to be a top-five selection April 24, but Sanders is one of the draft's biggest questions. Many around the NFL believe he could go in the top three to QB-needy teams such as the Browns or New York Giants, but ESPN's Adam Schefter recently reported that Sanders could slip.
Schefter listed Sanders as a possibility for the New Orleans Saints at No. 9.
"I like their colors," Deion Sanders said Friday about Shedeur potentially landing with the Saints, according to the "Saints Block Party Podcast." "I like the city, I like the food, I like the people. I like the possibility."
The Browns and Giants respectively are slated to take Hunter and Shedeur Sanders at No. 2 and No. 3 overall in the latest edition of theScore's NFL mock draft.
