Report: Griffin withdraws from consideration for Knicks job
Former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has removed himself from consideration for a New York Knicks front-office position, because the two sides couldn't agree on his role, a source told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.
The Knicks were reportedly progressing toward contract negotiations with Griffin regarding their general manager vacancy earlier this weekend. However, the two sides were at odds over Griffin hiring his own staff and having authority over all basketball-related decisions, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Griffin spent the last three seasons as the Cavaliers' general manager before the two sides opted to part ways shortly after this year's Finals. Griffin finished as runner-up for Executive of the Year during the 2014-15 season.

New York has struggled to find a replacement for its vacant president position since mutually parting ways with Phil Jackson last month. The Knicks reportedly targeted Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri earlier this offseason before focusing their efforts elsewhere.
New York's current general manager, Steve Mills, is reportedly trying to convince team owner James Dolan to promote him to president and then hire a GM to work underneath him.
