Lakers sophomore Brandon Ingram grew to 6-foot-11 this summer
Tantalizing comparisons to Kevin Durant linger for Los Angeles Lakers sophomore Brandon Ingram.
The willowy 20-year-old proved to be a unique talent in his rookie campaign. He lacked the requisite strength to execute many of his moves, but Ingram was a walking mismatch that stood 6-foot-9 while playing comfortably on the perimeter.
That height advantage will be an even bigger factor for Ingram going forward, as he reportedly grew two inches this offseason.
"I think he's at least 6-foot-10. He might be 6-foot-11 … I think he might be 6-foot-11, if not 7 feet," Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell said on ESPN LA's Thompson and Trudell show.
It's quite possible that instead of growing, that Ingram was just sold short on his initially listed height. NBA players fudge their real height all the time for one reason or another.
But then again, there have been cases like that of Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, where a young player does sprout a few inches early in their career. It's not inconceivable for someone as young as Ingram to have another small growth spurt.
Ingram averaged 9.4 points, four rebounds and 2.1 assists last season while shooting 40.2 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from deep.
