The Philadelphia Phillies appear eager to jolt themselves back into contention.

The Phillies locked up first baseman Carlos Santana for the next three seasons, and are promptly looking to bring in reinforcements for the starting rotation. The team has reportedly inquired about Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman, Tampa Bay Rays ace Chris Archer, and Kansas City Royals lefty Danny Duffy, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb and Matt Breen.

Archer and Duffy have each been subject of recent trade rumblings with both the Rays and Royals looking to be on the outside of contention in 2018. Stroman hasn't been as active in the offseason rumor mill. All three had varying degrees of success in 2017, and will be in demand should their teams actively shop them around.

Name IP W-L ERA WHIP K
Archer 201.0 10-12 4.07 1.26 249
Duffy 146.1 9-10 3.81 1.26 130
Stroman 201.0 13-9 3.09 1.31 164

The Phillies have a slew of young options in the starting rotation, including emerging ace Aaron Nola. Still, the rotation is considered an area of need as the team works back toward the postseason. The team finished 2017 with a 4.80 ERA among its starters, 21st in the majors.

Their interest is likely not limited to the trio above, as it's suggested they've discussed "just about every young starter that could be traded" during the offseason.
