Reid: 'Nothing good to say' about officiating in wild-card loss to Titans
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was left confused and frustrated by the officials several times throughout Saturday's wild-card loss to the Tennessee Titans.
The officials, as has been the case around the league all year, came under heavy scrutiny during the postseason opener, which saw Kansas City blow an 18-point advantage and lose 22-21 at home.
"Listen, I don't really have anything good to say there so I'm just kind of going to stay away from any comments on those guys," Reid said postgame, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com. "Don't want to get fined or whatever. It's not worth it."
Among the key calls made by Jeff Triplette's crew was a down-by-contact ruling on the Titans' Marcus Mariota during a sack. The quarterback was ruled down before fumbling the football, even though the replay showed the ball was loose ahead of his knee touching the ground.
Later in the contest, Mariota was ruled down by forward progress while he was spinning out of a sack on a two-point conversion. He wound up fumbling the ball, which could've been returned by Kansas City for two points, but the play had already been ruled dead.
Neither scenario could be reviewed as the play had been blown dead via forward progress.
Former vice president of officiating Mike Pereira criticized the officiating crew's performance afterward:
