Report: Love out 6-8 weeks with broken left hand
Another NBA All-Star on Team LeBron unfortunately bites the dust.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love suffered a non-displaced fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his left hand Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons, per Dave McMenamin from ESPN.
His status will be updated after further examination Wednesday. However, he'll likely be out for six to eight weeks, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
The injury occurred early in the first quarter with Love fighting for positioning in the paint with Pistons veteran Anthony Tolliver. He immediately headed to the locker room with trainer Steve Spiro to get his hand looked and undergo X-rays.
It's the same hand he had surgery on in 2009.
This is a cruel case of deja vu for Love, who underwent minor knee surgery days before last year's All-Star Game in New Orleans. Fast forward one year, and he'll likely miss the festivities yet again with this latest injury.
Love had been averaging 18.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 46.3 percent shooting through 47 appearances prior to Tuesday's meeting at Little Caesars Arena.
Fellow Team LeBron member John Wall will be out six to eight weeks after undergoing an arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left knee, while DeMarcus Cousins will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles.
