New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr publicly addressed his injured shoulder for the first time over the weekend and criticized part of the media for questioning the nature of his injury.

"I have an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it, we've been in constant communication," Carr said Sunday during a guest sermon at Church LV in Las Vegas, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell. "There's nothing wrong, we're figuring it out and we're gonna go forward with that."

The veteran quarterback added that he's been dealing with people "lying about me," according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra.

It was reported April 11, just weeks before the 2025 NFL Draft, that Carr is dealing with a shoulder injury that could sideline him for the 2025 season. It's unclear which shoulder Carr injured and how it happened.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis addressed the issue last week, saying he hopes to get a resolution and clarity regarding the passer's status "in the near future." With Carr's availability in question, the team drafted quarterback Tyler Shough with the 40th overall selection in last week's draft.

In March, New Orleans committed to Carr for the 2025 season by reworking his contract. The Saints are 14-13 with the 32-year-old under center since signing him during the 2023 offseason. The four-time Pro Bowler, who missed seven games due to oblique and hand injuries last year, passed for 40 touchdowns against 13 interceptions over the last two campaigns.
