Report: Sherman told teammates he won't be with Seahawks in 2018
Richard Sherman has informed his Seattle Seahawks teammates that he won't be with the team moving forward, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Rapoport added that nothing is official, and it's unclear if Sherman will be outright released or traded by Seattle. Sherman is scheduled to meet with head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider later Wednesday to discuss his future, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The potential blockbuster move was first hinted at by Sherman's Seahawks teammate, Jeremy Lane, on Twitter earlier Wednesday:
That text message got my heart hurting ... damn 25 was my Dawg #WhatsNext

Even Sherman's mother, Beverly Sherman, took to Facebook to confirm the news.

However, Sherman told ESPN's Josina Anderson that Lane's tweet wasn't in reference to him.
#Seahawks CB Richard Sherman just text me, "I'm good. Not sure what that's about...Haven't been told anything," in reference to Jeremy Lane's tweet.

The 29-year-old tore his Achilles after nine games in 2017. With one year left on his contract and the potential to save $11 million in cap space by cutting him, Sherman's future in Seattle has been one of the prominent questions surrounding the franchise heading into free agency.
Sherman isn't the only veteran defender likely on his way out of Seattle, as the team is reportedly shopping defensive end Michael Bennett.
