Report: Wonderboy expected to face Till in UFC Liverpool headliner

It's a good time to be Darren Till.

The streaking Scouser should soon see his campaign for a date with Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson bear fruit. A source close to one of the fighters told MMAjunkie's Mike Bohn and Dann Stupp that the karateka is expected to face Till in his native Liverpool on May 27 to close out UFC Fight Night 130 at Echo Arena.

The matchup - first reported by Chris Taylor of BJPenn.com - will apparently be signed and formally announced by the promotion soon.

Till began angling for the clash of striking stylists soon after scoring a breakthrough first-round TKO of Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118 in October. While nagging injuries and designs on claiming the divisional crown kept Thompson from meeting him halfway, it appears the 35-year-old will bring the long-awaited matchup into existence.

Wonderboy fought reigning champion Tyron Woodley to a draw and fell to him by majority decision at UFC 205 and 209, respectively, but bounced back with a three-round striking clinic at Jorge Masvidal's expense in November at UFC 217.

Till, meanwhile, has yet to taste defeat in 17 pro bouts, going 4-0-1 in the Octagon. A dozen of the Muay Thai man's 16 victories have come within the distance.
