Curry suffers MCL sprain in 1st game back from ankle injury
Steph Curry's return to action met with disaster Friday night.
In his first game back from his third right ankle sprain of the season, the Golden State Warriors point guard suffered a left MCL sprain in the third quarter after teammate JaVale McGee landed on his left leg.
Curry dropped 29 points on 10 of 18 shooting in 25 minutes against the Atlanta Hawks before limping off the floor. He will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the sprain.
He missed two weeks with a Grade 1 MCL sprain during the 2016 playoffs, and wasn't quite the same player when he returned that year. A more severe sprain could cost him a lot more time than that. Warriors forward Kevin Durant suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain last year - on a very similar play involving Zaza Pachulia - and missed six weeks.
Curry has already missed 21 games this season due to ankle injuries. The Warriors are also playing without Curry's three All-Star teammates - Durant, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green - all of whom are sidelined with injuries of their own.
