Brady cites 'personal reasons' for OTA absence
Tom Brady spoke to the media on Day 3 of the New England Patriots' mandatory minicamp. This, after the quarterback did not attend OTAs last month.
Brady has previously extolled the virtues of that time with his team and was asked pointedly why he chose not to attend this year.
"Just some personal reasons for me, but I'm here now and am focused on what I need to do, as I always am," Brady said.
Multiple reports surfaced last season of a chilled relationship between Brady and his head coach Bill Belichick, but he said the absence was unrelated.
"It's great and we've always had a great relationship," he said. "I've been here for a long time and I love this team, I love this organization and I love playing quarterback for him. I loved it last year and I'm having a lot of fun now. That's obviously what's most important to me."
Brady has been spotted traveling the globe on various promotional tours this offseason, but said his time off hasn't been any different than any previous offseason.
