Report: Recently traded, released Hackenberg visiting Patriots

Football fans may not have seen the last of Christian Hackenberg.
The failed 2016 second-round pick of the New York Jets is visiting with the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.
Hackenberg was traded from the Jets to the Oakland Raiders in late May in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick. When Hackenberg was released by the Raiders earlier this week the pick was returned. He is yet to play a single regular-season snap in the NFL entering his third season.
The Patriots may need some added quarterback depth entering training camp next month. Veteran Brian Hoyer and seventh-round rookie Danny Etling are set to compete for the backup job behind Tom Brady.
