Jamal Crawford declined his $4.5-million player option to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves for 2018-19 and will become a free agent, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
Crawford averaged 10 points and 2.3 assists but he shot just 41.5 percent from the field in 20.7 minutes per game. Nevertheless, the veteran gunner was often tabbed by head coach Tom Thibodeau to close games.
Thibodeau will likely give Crawford's spot to promising backup guard Tyus Jones, who was largely bumped from the rotation following the acquisition of Derrick Rose. Jones averaged just 5.1 points and 2.8 assists but was adored as an advanced stats darling.
