Report: Hawks honing in on Doncic at No. 3
With the Sacramento Kings reportedly leaning toward drafting Marvin Bagley second overall on Thursday, the Atlanta Hawks are zeroing in on Real Madrid guard and EuroLeague MVP Luka Doncic with the No. 3 pick, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Michigan State's Jaren Jackson reportedly remains in the conversation for the third pick, as does Bagley, should the Kings pass on him.
There hasn't been much buzz about Doncic going to the Hawks, who have more often been linked to Jackson. It's possible they weren't expecting the Slovenian teenager to be available at No. 3, and are shifting their focus now that the Kings appear uninterested. It's also possible they're planning on trading down in the draft, and feel they can drive up the price of their pick by threatening to nab the most highly touted prospect who figures to be on the board.
Doncic averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in his age-19 season while leading Madrid to the Liga ACB championship.
