The Houston Rockets have expressed exploratory interest in acquiring JR Smith, leagues sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.
The disgruntled Cleveland Cavaliers guard is currently on hiatus from the club after requesting a trade in November.
Smith has appeared in 11 games this season, averaging 6.7 points per contest on 34.2 percent shooting.
The 33-year-old was a key cog in the Cavaliers' championship run in 2016, but saw his playing time drop this season as the team shifted towards a youth movement.
