Kerr: 'Good chance' Durant plays in Game 5 or 6
Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant has been ruled out for Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, but head coach Steve Kerr is optimistic that the forward will return soon.
"I do think he'll play in the series," Kerr told KNBR 680 on Thursday. "I think there’s a good chance that he plays in Game 5 or 6."
Kerr apologized for mistakenly telling reporters after Game 3 that Durant would practice Thursday and clarified that the All-Star will take part in some on-court work Friday.
"This whole thing has been so difficult to message ... the injury itself, there's a lot of gray area," Kerr said. "There's no easy timeline ... when it's healthy, it's healthy."
The two-time Finals MVP has yet to practice since suffering a right calf injury in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Houston Rockets. Kerr previously stated it's "feasible" for Durant to return with just a single practice under his belt.
Meanwhile, Warriors guard Klay Thompson is expected to return for Game 4 on Friday after missing the previous contest with a hamstring injury. Center Kevon Looney could reportedly return at some point, having initially been ruled out for the rest of The Finals.
Toronto leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.
