The Minnesota Twins' power surge has officially set a record.
Jorge Polanco became the latest Twin to reach the 20-homer mark when he belted a two-run shot off the Tigers' Matthew Boyd in the fifth inning on Saturday.
His blast gave Minnesota eight players with at least 20 home runs this season, establishing a new major-league record.
Player | HRs |
---|---|
Max Kepler | 36 |
Nelson Cruz | 34 |
Eddie Rosario | 27 |
Miguel Sano | 26 |
Mitch Garver | 26 |
C.J. Cron | 24 |
Jonathan Schoop | 21 |
Jorge Polanco | 20 |
Seven teams shared the previous record, with the Los Angeles Dodgers most recently fielding seven batters with 20-plus long balls in 2018.
Polanco's blast was one of six Twins homers Saturday, giving them an MLB single-season record 268 homers this year.
