Two people have been cited after they allegedly stole a life-sized cutout of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes from a McDonald's in Lawrence, Kansas and crashed their getaway car, Mackenzie Clark of the Lawrence Journal-World reports.

McDonald's employees and witnesses saw a man and woman grab the cutout from the restaurant before speeding away in a waiting car, Lawrence Police Department spokesman Patrick Compton said. Officers responding to a nearby two-car accident spotted the cutout in the back seat and questioned the suspects about it.

The suspects were issued notices to appear for alleged theft and were cited in the accident. The Mahomes cutout has since been returned to McDonald's.

Mahomes and the Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens in their home opener Sunday.
