Adams 'at peace' after meeting with Jets chairman
New York Jets chairman Christopher Johnson met with Jamal Adams to repair any fractures in their relationship following a tense trade deadline.
"It went well," Adams told reporters Friday, courtesy of SNY. "Me and Mr. Johnson are very close, I have a lot of respect for him. I was very comfortable because he understands me - not Jamal Adams as a football player - Jamal Adams as a person. He's very genuine and authentic and I've always had mutual respect for him so that was a guy that I was comfortable with talking to. It went well."
Adams called out New York's management earlier in the week for shopping him before the deadline. He said Friday that he's still not ready to speak with general manager Joe Douglas or head coach Adam Gase after learning he wasn't an untouchable commodity.
However, Adams said he's "at peace" following the meeting with Johnson, according to Dennis Waszak Jr. of The Associated Press. The 24-year-old also noted that Johnson initiated the meeting.
Adams has recorded 39 tackles and an interception through seven games in 2019 while playing at a Pro Bowl pace for the second consecutive season. The former sixth overall pick figures to be in line for a long-term extension at some point over the next two years.
