Twins sign Rich Hill, Homer Bailey to 1-year deals
The Minnesota Twins signed free-agent starting pitchers Rich Hill and Homer Bailey to one-year contracts, the team's senior director of communications, Dustin Morse, announced Tuesday.
Hill's deal guarantees him $3 million in 2020 and he can make over $10 million with incentives, while Bailey will earn $7 million, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The 39-year-old Hill is rehabbing from a left forearm strain and is targeting a return in June or July, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. The veteran left-hander posted a 2.45 ERA in 13 starts last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bailey, meanwhile, accrued a 4.57 ERA in 31 starts between the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics in 2019. The 33-year-old has made 243 starts over 13 years in the majors.
The signings further bolster a Twins starting rotation that was very solid in 2019, as it accumulated the seventh-best WAR in the majors, according to FanGraphs.
