Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert asked for the 2020 NFL Draft to be extended by three rounds due to scouting restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Colbert reportedly told league officials on a conference call that teams should have a wider margin of error given their atypical shortage of evaluation tools.
NFL clubs haven't been able to meet with prospects face to face, put them through individual workouts, or attend their pro days in the lead-up to the draft, which will be done virtually this year.
The draft will begin April 23 and finish at the conclusion of the seventh round April 25.
