With the 2020 NFL Draft less than a week away, teams are still discussing trading out of their current draft positions.
The New York Giants, for one, own the No. 4 pick and are open to moving back.
"It's something I would very seriously entertain," Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said Friday on a conference call with reporters.
However, Gettleman insists he'd like to know sooner rather than later whether he'll be selecting fourth.
"It's got to happen pretty soon," he said. "I'm going to make calls and anybody that wants to move up, I'm going to say, 'Listen, we don't have much time, we can't fool around, and I'd like to get the parameters of deals in place before we get on the clock.' That would be the best thing."
Should New York stand pat, Gettleman said the club is "still discussing" who to target with the pick.
The Giants have been linked to an offensive lineman in most mock drafts, including theScore's latest edition. Gettleman admitted the position is an area the team might target early.
"Well again, you know my theory. It's very, very difficult for Saquon (Barkley) to run the ball if he doesn't have holes. It's going to be difficult for Daniel (Jones) to throw the ball when he's on his back. We'll continue to build the offensive line," Gettleman said. "Is it a pressure point? To a degree. I'm not going to deny that. But it's about getting the right guy. It's about not panicking."
The draft will take place April 23-25 and be a virtual experience due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
