Report: Barcelona open to Arthur offers amid Tottenham, Juventus interest
Arthur has pledged his future to Barcelona, but it seems the Catalan colossus could look to offload the Brazilian midfielder in the summer, potentially as part of a swap deal.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are interested in the 23-year-old, whom Barcelona have appraised at €60 million, according to ESPN UK's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.
"There is always speculation but my idea is clear," Arthur said in a statement Wednesday. "The only option that interests me is staying at Barcelona. ... The supposed interest of big clubs is always flattering and a positive sign, but my mind is on playing for Barcelona for many years.
"This is where I have always wanted to be."
Still, widespread reports claim Barcelona will field interest on any player bar Lionel Messi, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen ahead of a summer of uncertainty tethered to massive revenue losses stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.
With transfer fees likely to plummet as clubs seek cut-rate targets, free transfers and swap deals could become popular options.
Barcelona have reportedly offered Antoine Griezmann to Paris Saint-Germain and Inter already as part of swaps for Neymar and Lautaro Martinez, respectively.
Another swap option with Juventus could materialize, and it's understood Barcelona have held informal talks with the eight-time reigning Scudetto winners over the services of Rodrigo Bentancur, Miralem Pjanic, and Matthijs de Ligt.
Dutch defender De Ligt was close to a move to the Camp Nou last summer, but agent Mino Raiola withdrew his client's interest and instead opted for Juventus, a move that has allegedly left some at Barcelona angered.
