Report: Patriots, Jaguars among teams interested in Dalton
Andy Dalton is already attracting some interest.
The New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars are among the teams interested in the former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, according to Tyler Dragon of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Dalton was released Thursday after nine seasons as Cincinnati's starter.
A second-round pick out of TCU in 2011, Dalton has made the Pro Bowl three times and owns a career record of 70-61-2 since entering the NFL. The 32-year-old completed 59.5% of his pass attempts for 3,494 yards and 16 touchdowns against 14 interceptions in 13 games last season.
The Patriots lost Tom Brady in free agency this offseason after two decades with the team. New England didn't draft any quarterbacks this year, and head coach Bill Belichick admitted that "wasn't by design."
The Patriots signed undrafted signal-callers Brian Lewerke out of Michigan State and J'Mar Smith out of Louisiana Tech earlier this week. Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham and journeyman Brian Hoyer are also on New England's depth chart.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, are set to start Gardner Minshew after trading veteran Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears in March. Jacksonville also has Josh Dobbs, whom they traded for last September, and Jake Luton, a 2020 sixth-round pick out of Oregon State.
